OB

The diagnosis of inflammation. Anaemia, cancer, liver cirrhosis

Testosterone

Has a strong anabolic effect — that is, promoting the processes of building new compounds, involved, for example, in the growth of muscle mass and size. Testosterone is produced primarily by Leydig cells (located in the testes) under the influence of stimulation from the pituitary gland in a situation where its level in the blood is reduced.

DHEA

has a special role in the stimulation of testosterone and estrogen production. Some refer to it as the hormone of youth since its level in the blood decreases with age. As we age, the production level of this hormone decreases, which accompanies the ageing process. Deficiency of DHEA can manifest as a feeling of lack of energy. In the case of women, DHEA participates in the production of estrogens (estradiol and estrone), while in the case of men it supports the synthesis of so-called androgens, with testosterone at the forefront. Therefore, this hormone affects the maintenance of libido and potency, sexual maturation, growth of bone mass, and changes in its concentration, which can lead to sexual and psychological problems.

CEA

CEA is otherwise known as carcinoembryonic antigen, which is used primarily for monitoring diagnosed cancer during treatment. Also sometimes used when cancer is suspected.

Ca 19-9
